Techniques – There are many technical methods I consider when creating a project. During the design process, I describe some of these techniques such as use and orientation of materials, joinery and style. Fabrication, profiling and fastening methods during construction are also discussed. The type of finishing contributes to the character and detail of the piece as well. All are creative techniques that go into the process of a project

Materials – It’s very important to pick the right materials for a project. Consulting with me achieves this task and allows for the desired effect. One may want to use a solid wood versus a veneered plywood on a project or a combination of both. Materials vary depending on region and local areas around the country. The type of materials used will also depend on whether a project has an interior or exterior application

Aesthetics – The design and look of your project is very important and should fit in with the décor of the room or area it is to be displayed or used. Style and finish often play a role in aesthetics

Project functionality – Here I like to consider the functionality as well as the aesthetics of a project. There are many details I consider when designing a piece or a set of cabinets. What amount of space do I have to work with? How streamlined will the piece be and what hardware is suitable to use for the project to allow for the functionality desired. These are just some of the aspects to keep in mind.
